Monkeys, Kittens, Dogs--What Next?

Hey, ya'll. This post'll be pretty much ramblings of the past couple days...Since I'm currently writing this on a LibreOffice, things may not all happen at the same time. :) Blogger is currently not working for me, so I'll just have to write it here for now. (P.S. Obviously it is working now)
Currently, we have four cats and two dogs—Pippin you know of already. We still have him (he's quite the guard dog—bites the fence savagely and growls, but is as docile as a lamb to people INSIDE the fence, unless you're a Liberian kid. If you're a Liberian kid, don't come in at all. The last one who did nearly had his shoe bit off...>_>). We also have Merry now, too (yes, LOTR all the way!). He's brown with shortish ears that go backwards, but aren't floppy and don't stand up. He has brown eyes, a black muzzle, and is so timid and eager to please people that he whines when you pet him a lot. :) We got him about a month ago, but he's as old as Pippin. He was beat in his old home, and not always fed. They moved and abandoned him, so we took him in. :)
Our cats—well, you all know Ninja. She's taken on a motherly streak since we got these kittens. A friend of ours found them in a school closet, and no mother showed up over night. They were so young they're eyes were still closed. The teachers were pretty much going to throw 'em out the window, but instead a boy took them (four of them) to the family who own Ninja's mother, Stubs. She had some milk left, and half-nursed them. One died, but three survived. Eventually, they gave them to us (Stubs was dried up and about to have more kittens) and we completely bottle-fed them for a long while. That was maybe two months ago. Now, they're almost as big as Ninja when we got her, and are completely weaned. Ninja attacks them sometimes, and we've only been able to have them out at night for the last...oh, three weeks to a month? Anyways, sometimes she'll roughly bite them and then begin to lick them. Thus, the motherly side of Ninja. They all love my sister's carpet and fall asleep on it. :)
The kittens' names are Chai, Cess, and Snitzel. Chai is white with black spots, and kind of has a silly face. She's longer than the others, but thinner. We decided to name them all after cultural symbols or objects. Chai is named after tea from India.
Cess is the sassy one—gets annoyed when people pick her up while she's playing and once bit my sister while she tried to give her a bath. XD She's mostly black (kind of a tabby black) with a white face, paws, and stomach. She's the one who had a lot of problems when we first got them—she didn't have very good digestion, always had a big stomach, and had a hernia on her stomach from her umbilical cord not being cut right. It is completely gone now, but was huge when we got her. :) Unfortunately, the other day the poor kitten had a seizure, just like Ninja...>_> It was short, though, and we think she jumped off something. She's fine now. Anyways, we named her after a river here in Liberia, and when we looked it up, found it is also an Irish word for 'curse.' Haha.
Snitzel (Sh-nits-ull) is gray, like Ninja, and is the smallest be the most well-formed. She's pretty good-tempered, though not as cuddly as Chai. We named her after a German food. ^_^ Though we sometimes call her Shnizzle...
More news? Well, a couple days after my last post, our mongoose died for unknown reasons. We just found her one morning, feet in the air. :'( A very sad day for us all. Now, though, death has stopped its walk through our halls, and all of our animals have survived since then. We're hoping to find another mongoose and possibly a monkey...>_>
Actually, we saw a monkey at the pump the other day! He had a leash around his waist and sat on the guy's shoulders with his hands on the man's head while the guy pumped water. We asked if he was friendly, and got to touch him. He actually tried to shake our hands. XD He was gray, with eyes close together. He had a Liberian name, but I can't remember it. When the man filled the gas can's lid (they use these things to pump water in), the monkey climbed down and literally stuck his face in it and drank. XD The monkey was awesome. ^_^
Liberian English is strange. You not only have to change the way you say things and the words you say, but you have to change the TONE. So that you have the right accent. They can't pronounce the 'th,' and thus can't say my real name, and they've officially named my older sister 'Alice' even though her name is Alex. :)
“Ey, I wanna spea wih you.” vrs. “Hey, I want to speak with you.”
“Wha you eat today?” vrs. “What did you eat today?”
“Can you help us wih a watta bottle?” vrs. “Can we have a waterbottle?”
“My dog is very fine, yeah? You wanna buy my dog?” Haha. You can't stop and admire a puppy because sometimes they'll try to sell it to you. XD
Yeah, you probably get the point. XD Liberian English is hard to type up...I wish I had a recording instead. But I don't. :)
Pippin is called 'Pinpin' by most Liberians, so we've kinda picked up the nickname. They say, “Wha your dog name?” and I say, “This is Merry,” they say, “Oh, Mary a girl dog?” and I say, “No, Merry like 'Merry Christmas!'”
I once tried to spell it out to Jerry, one of the neighborhood kids, but then realized that he'd told us he can't read...smart. Real smart.
Currently doing One Year Adventure Novel. Just started the Novel outline. Glug. We're doing two lessons a day or more at this rate, because we want to write the whole thing in the month of May. :P
I finish school this week...or it could be last week by the time I publish this blogpost. O_o Anyways, I finish on April 26th, 2012. Not allowed to do school on the 27th...Ry's birthday. :) Our very last book of the year is Ender's Game, and I will be finishing it tomorrow...I finished most of my school weeks ago but only have readers left...my only subject left. :P Other than OYAN and French, of course. And Composition, which I'll be doing next month. :P
French...well, let's just say I know maybe ten, twenty words and botch them. Still, its French, right? Yeah. Right.
I know the word for life in French...its riz. Translated, rice. XD That's what life is here in Liberia. Rice. If you're not eating rice, you're not eating, as a Liberian once told my brother. And its true. We eat Liberian food every day here except for Sunday...from palm butter to groundnut stew. All over rice. Want a list?
Jolliff rice
Palm butter
Cassava
Potato greens
Pumpkin (known as squash in America! 'Tis not in the same category as jack o' lanterns!)
Okra
Groundnut stew (they call peanuts groundnuts)
Pepper soup (LITERALLY MADE OF SPICY LIBERIAN PEPPERS!!! Haha. Spicier than jalepenos. Oh yeah)
Beans
Fufu (just guessing at spelling)
Fried cabbage
Collared greens
Eggplant (much smaller than the eggplants in America, and more white than purple)
And more. O_o Liberians like spicy food...a lot. The kids eat pepper soup without flinching. We also get a variety of exotic fruits, depending on the season. Mangoes (or 'plums' as the Liberians call them) are in season right now, and especially good picked right off the tree. ^_^ You can usually find bananas, and recently we've gotten some oranges. You can go on the street and get a coconut if you want one, and there are papaya (methinks they're out of season) and pineapple and watermelon...the watermelons are all dark green, not striped like American ones. We went to visit someone, and they gave us bananas, oranges, butter pear (avocados), a pineapple, a watermelon, cucumbers...lots of good things to eat. They grew it all themselves. You don't usually find tomatoes here though. They don't survive in the heat, methinks.
We've seen a couple of snakes so far, nothing to be scared of...our guards killed most of them, but missed one. :)
More news...
There was a rabid dog a half-mile down the beach. Scary. This happened...oh, a month ago? Several people were bit, and many, many dogs had to be put down. The people we got Stan and Valli from had to put down both of their puppies (the mom died shortly after we got our puppies from snake venom sprayed in her eyes) and the husband was bit trying to help them. He got shots, and he's perfectly fine now. We've been getting the rabies vaccinations—three of 'em. We've gotten two so far, and another in two weeks.
And what do you do when there's been a rabid dog nearby?
You research rabies, of course. XD Lovely, eh? I looked it up briefly in cats, dogs, and a little in humans. I happen to want to be a veterinarian, so I can't help it.
And then our security guards (you have to have them here—that, and a dog. A dog, a fence, and guards are the best choices for security here) began to ask me questions. They know of rabies and know that its dangerous, but they don't know ABOUT it. “Wait—more animals than dog can get rabies?” Thomas asked me. I explained that most warm-blood animals can. Then somehow we got onto the subject of alligators and whether they fight with their tail or their mouth...>_>
We have several security guards—Jonathon, James (he's temporary, but he's a night guard right now), Thomas, Ezekiel, Aloysius (pronounced Eee-lush-us), and Friday. They take shifts—one from early morning to four o'clock in the afternoon, another from four to ten, and two to three people are on the night shift. There are a couple more temporary guards—Dolo being one who is here at night when one of the other guards has a day off.
My art pencil broke...the new one got lost in the mail...I haven't drawn a real drawing for...WEEKS. I'm dying here. >_> Okay, so maybe not dying, but I have nothing to do any more. School? I've only got readers. Read a book? I've read all the ones on my Kindle. Play a game? Nada. I can doodle some, but I'm running out of doodling paper... GRAHH!!!
As you can see, I'm a beast. Its late. Possible reason? Ah.
My One Year Adventure Novel MC is named Brennan Holster...awesome, eh?
Regulations on this novel?
Twelve chapters.
One scene per chapter.
Write only in first person.
Yup. **headdesk**
I'm suffering from lack of sleep. I should go. But I really don't want to.
Meh. This is too long already. Goodnight!

EDIT: This is a couple days later. We saw a baby monkey! The man who lives at what we call the 'warehouse' got his sons a baby monkey. They brought it over, and we cut up a mango for him to eat. It was hilarious. He'd climb into our laps, but didn't like our hair and batted it away in annoyance. It was great.
He tried to tease the dog...poor Pippin had his face sticking out of the bars the whole time. He really wanted to get ahold of that monkey. Merry, though, didn't touch the monkey. :)
We gave him water in a plastic cup, and held it up to his mouth. He actually drank out of it! It was funny. The boys had fashioned a 'diaper' out of a plastic bag. He had a piece of yarn around his waist, with a long line. He was hilarious. :)
And...HAPPY BIRTHDAY RY!! She got a drum, two 'sassa,' I think they're called (gourds with beads strung around it, you hold the end and move the gourd), and a Liberian painting from me, depicting huts and a canoe on the water. :)  It was painted by a man down the road a bit.
Nothing else to say. ;)

Sad Tales and Sad News

Heyo, my fellow bloggers and followers! I’ve been missing for awhile now…rumor has it that a group of renegade African chickens took me captive. O_O

Actually, its been quite busy here. Several pets now, but we’ve had some bad experiences with our pets. Every single pet we’ve gotten so far has had something bad happen to it in the first few weeks or, in one case, months after we get them.

Example! Since we’ve moved into our house: Jax, the first puppy we got, a sweet little thing, got sick, didn’t eat for four days, and then died. A very sad day for us all. :P We now know what he contracted, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

Second, our mongoose, on the same day Jax died, fell from some high place and hit her head, causing her eye to swell and her nose to bleed. The swelling went down and she seemed fine—until a few days later she that part of her was paralyzed. We thought it was probably brain damage. But, knowing mongooses, we hoped she’d regain her ability to walk and all that—her former owners once had a mongoose who managed to completely paralyze itself, but in a few days was just fine—and indeed she has. One of her legs is still stiff, but she’s able to climb in and out of her cage by herself now, eat a lot, and all that. Anyways, she’s mostly better.

We then got a puppy who seems part golden retriever (has the big brown liquid eyes and loves people) and named him Pippin. Actually, his story is rather strange. When we were having our tile laid, a tile layer handed us the excitable yellow scruff of a puppy the day Jax died, saying someone sent it. We fell in love with him immediately, but then the tile layer told my mom the dog was fifty dollars US. We got our last for five! We had to send the puppy back, and the owner came back for him. Actually, he gave it to the tile layer to sell for twenty five or thirty, but evidently the tile layer thought he should get twenty dollars in the bargain. The owner apologized and took the dog back with him.

A few days later, we still wanted that poor puppy who’d been so excited to see us. We asked around, and we ended up buying him for fifteen dollars (thirty dollars had been the typical ‘white’ price. If you’re white, you supposedly have a lot of money). We had a vet come and deworm him and give him a rabies shot. He wouldn’t eat for two days, but then began to eat with a large appetite.

Then, a week or so later, we got two dogs from some Americans we know, some nice German Pointers. Their mother was HUGE, so we ended up getting two; a girl and a boy. The girl was mostly chocolate brown with a white belly and some white markings but a fully brown face. We named her Valli, after someone in America we know. She totally acted like her, too. The boy had a really dark brown face with long whiskers and a white stripe. He was mostly white on his body, except for a dark brown spot and a black spot on his back. His name was Stan, after Valli’s husband. They were both pretty stocky dogs.

Then came the disaster. Five days to a week after we got them, Valli got a round stomach one night after eating. We thought she’d just eaten a lot. Then, the next day, she was throwing up. We knew she probably had worms, because evidently, just after we got our puppies, all the other puppies in the litter got worms. Unfortunately, it was the weekend, so we couldn’t get medicine. Then, Stan got a round stomach and the next day began throwing up. We got medicine that day and gave it to them. They took it fine the first day, but then the next Stan couldn’t hold his down. Valli lasted a couple more days, never able to eat, and then one night started breathing bad. We knew she was going to die.

The next morning, she was breathing so loud we could hear her in the next room. I carried her outside, limp but still alive and breathing really loudly, to the sand in one corner of our yard. She would breath loudly for awhile, and then her breathing would be quiet, and then get louder. I knew what it was—the worms (Roundworm was what she had, and she became skinny because they ate any food we could get to her stomach—not that she would eat) were coming up her throat. They made it hard to breathe. And if the roundworm was too big…well, I won’t say anymore, but I’m sure you know what would happen.

My mom came out with Jake and Manny and prayed that Valli would go quickly. She was quiet through the entire prayer, and then started up again. She died a few moments later.

It was a horrible day, especially for Stan who could still walk around and was faring much better than her. He whined a lot, looking for his sister. He deteriorated rapidly after that day. He became so thin every bone was clear, and his eyes were sunken. We fed him milk with a spoon, and gave him deworming medicine. He couldn’t keep most of it down. We woke up this morning, two days after Valli’s death, thinking he would be dead. He was barely alive, couldn’t even move his head. The next time we checked on him, he was gone. He didn’t die like Vally did—no, he literally starved to death.

And so now we have three graves in our backyard, but still our list of animal mishaps continues. The night before Valli died, a dog came into our yard and attacked Pippin. Since we didn’t know if he had rabies or not, we’ve had to quarantine Pippin. Poor Pippin, he’s so very lonely. (The Liberians can’t really say ‘Pippin,’ and so it sounds like they say ‘Pinpin.’ The Adventures of Pinpin, eh?) We gave him deworming medicine, just in case, and he did have worms, though of a different sort and probably not half as dangerous. We’ll have to deworm him once a month to make sure.

THEN, we also have a little gray kitten that we’ve named Ninja (she’s totally ninja—she darts around the bed and pounces on our feet and books and hands…and pencils as we write). She did a very stupid thing the other day, on the day Valli died, methinks—she jumped off the top bunk, and we think she hit her head. Anyways, she had a seizure and freaked everyone out. She was extremely tired afterwards, but is now back to her mischievous, ninja self.

Ah, pouring out all my sorrows! Ha.

Tomorrow, I’m to teach a Liberian woman (she grew up in Minnesota, actually, so she has perfect American English) and some kids she’s bringing over how to draw. XD We’ll see how that goes.

Anyways, goodnight, my friends! I’d blog about so many more things—all the wonders of Africa, not all these Satanic things that are happening (really, its not normal—even for Africa—to have this many things happen to your pets. I’m sure Satan is involved) if I had time. Hopefully I shall blog more! I only had time to blog the saddest parts of my life right now. XD Next time shall be much better!

Oh, yes, and I’m doing One Year Adventure Novel.

G’bye! ;)

Of Mongooses and Insanity

Mongooses. No, not mongeese. Mongooses. Want to know what they are? Well, we're getting one. A baby one, currently named Bree, though we may change that. Babies are the same size as and look like a ferret and a rat, and very cute. They squeak a lot (no exaggeration--they squeak incessantly, but they'll grow out of some of it) and will only go to sleep if you rub their head, ears, or back...

Baby mongoose:
Ours is actually older than this, and thus bigger...

And it has a longer nose than this...

THAT'S more like our mongoose, except maybe a bit younger. Also, the pictures from the internet are coming out blurry, so watch out...

I've been looking at pictures, and found that our mongoose looks a lot like a Cusimanse Mongoose. :) Might be one.

Meerkats are actually a species of Mongoose.

And when grown, they can kill a King Cobra snake. They're fast... can't you tell? Cobras aren't very fast snakes, I think, but still. Every snake is fast. They grow to be maybe the size of a cat, and have claws for digging. There are many different species, and I'm not sure what ours is--probably a mix, (I mentioned above it LOOKS like a Cusimanse) since the guest house owners got it in a village. Since they're leaving to go to America for ten months, we get the mongoose. :)

And... as for insanity... you've found it. ;) I've been doing Doctor Who Awareness Week with my siblings on the Underground, where we use quotes whenever possible, and make our avatar and name that of a character. I almost did River Song, but I ended up doing Donna Noble. Ry did Rose Tyler(though she stopped) and Jake did the Doctor, Tennant. Another Undergrounder did 'Doctor' except as Matt Smith. Also, EaglesWings did River Song for a short while. :)

I drew Matt Smith on Bristol Paper, and it worked surprisingly well! I'll post soon. :)

And I've found some awesome videos to share, but you don't have to watch them. XD

Every single Doctor Who Theme! About one for each Doctor, but the music, though in different versions, stays the same through the whole thing!

This is amazing. Heartbreaking. And awesome at the same time. Its the ultimate trailer, which you've probably already seen posted by Jake. But how could I not post it?

Now for soundtrack!

So stinkin' sad!! The words 'Vale Decem' mean 'Goodbye, Ten.' That's what they're singing.

You Made Me is rather sad, as well... this is from the episode in which Tennant regenerates. The Master saves the Doctor. *sniffs*

Okay, time for supper! Fried ochre... Yum. ^_^

I'm Alive!

Yes, believe it or not, I am alive!

Didja miss me? And I'm pretty sure that 'didjya isn't even a word. XD Oh, well. The joys of being a... a... well, something. *frowns

Anyways, much oceanic things! We've gone swimming three times--a few days after we arrived, and then the waves were really high and it wasn't that much fun... the second time we only got to for an hour, and was better. Then, we went to Silver Beach (today, but by the time I post this it might be yesterday) for a graduation party for the guesthouse owners' daughter. I drew her a picture of Crush, their mixed breed dog, who stands a bit above my knee and has tulip ears and big brown eyes as well as short, brown fur and a white chest, stripe, and muzzle. :) Very cute.

Silver Beach was AMAZING. They had a lagoon that was maybe knee-deep or a little more, and the littler kids used that. You had to cross that to get to the ocean. Also, the ocean there was beautiful--as far as the eye can see across, and to either side. BEAUTIFUL, not to mention the waves were huge and yet the sea was smoother there. XD It didn't jostle you about so much that you never could rest. It had maybe eight-foot tall waves where we were, about waist-deep. I dove under a wave just before it crashed, and I got a free back rub over my whole body. It was fun.

The ocean pulls you down the beach because of the way the current goes around the coast. The bad thing was that at one point, there was a big hole where neither me nor my dad could touch the bottom even though people right across from us were only waist deep. You had to let it sweep you a little bit further where its gets shallower again.

Riding the waves was fun, too. Jared (the guest house owners' son), his cousin, and Jake tried to play ninja in the water. They failed utterly. Then, they tried to see who could stay standing through the waves the longest. XD One huge one knocked them all down. Jared's cousin lay on the beach where the waves could wash over him, and plugged his nose. A strong wave took him down the beach--and another washed him back up. It was funny to watch.

Today (and yes, my other note that said my other 'today' could be yesterday was correct), I helped out at the library sorting that Jake and Alex have been helping with, and it was a lot of fun. Pretty much, I got to sit on the floor and divide devotional magazines and the like while everyone else went through hymnals. XD The thing was, I was supposed to find all of the Daily Breads in that mess (a huge pile they had just been tossing stuff like that into) and pack them into a box. Guess what? By the end of the day, I filled five full boxes of Daily Bread devotionals alone, and two boxes of other things.

Jared, apparently, thought it was a lot of fun to, when  he found Daily Breads and stuff like that, toss them on my head. That got everybody ELSE started on tossing them on my head, and soon I was surrounded by Daily Breads to sort through... XD It didn't hurt, but even Jake thought it was funny... is there something wrong with them? ;)

At break time we each drank a pop (or two, in Jared's case) or a bag of water. And then... we played ninja. usually it ends up to be Jake and Jared facing each other by the end. Jared is now a black belt in karate, so he's really good, but Jake's pretty good at that sort of thing too. They go on for like three minutes, going so fast that it looks like its been coordinated or something. XD They had to take a break TWICE in one of the rounds, and nobody ever won it because we just started over. I got second once or twice. It was easier, since we played the version where you hit one hand--that person's out.

Jared's cousin (he has two--this one being the younger one), Levi, decided that you're supposed to be an animal and make the sounds as you strike. Jared was a snake, Jared's older cousin was an elephant, I was... well, I THINK I was a bear, though I wish I'd done a cat, I can't remember what Jake was, and Levi... Levi was a cow. XD Then he did it where you had to say something in a different language. Levi said his name in some other language, Jared said 'shield' in the Ancient Language from The Inheritance Cycle, (I can't remember what anyone else said), and I said, of course... ALLONS-Y!!

At one point during the day, Jared disappeared, and his older cousin said, "Where's Jared?" A few minutes later, Jake felt a hand on his head... Apparently, Jared was in the attic, hanging his head through the hole in the ceiling. Nobody noticed him! Jake walked right under him. They figured out it was Jared because Jared had disappeared, and Jake went to go get him, but Jared came downstairs fast through the other way and Jake went up searching for him and calling his name. Jared sits down.

Jake: "Where are you?"

Jared: "Oh, you'll never find me!"

Jake: "Oh, yes I will!"

Me: "Jake, he's down here!"

So funny.

Awesome day. Some of the boys 'sang' Christmas songs or just random songs, Jake started to sing the first four lines of his famous poem, "It Flow'st Upon A Midnight" put to the music of 'It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.' He found out awhile ago that it fits perfectly...

Levi took a hymnal and opened to a random page and made up a tune for whatever he read... I must say, it didn't really work... XD

Hopefully, I'll be going back tomorrow...

Drawings! So far, I've finished the drawing of Crush, started one of Rubee, a picture graciously provided by Leauphaun, and another off of the internet--a big draft horse with black and white patches, and long feathers on his hooves. I found a whole lot of this same horse, and he's really beautiful. Drawing him is going to be fun. I started one of him. :)

I read the Errant King. I liked it, but I didn't love it. It didn't quite live up to Sword in the Stars. Lochlan was good, as was Maren and Telwyn and all the rest. But unfortunately, I didn't feel that Ariana's character was developed enough near the end--her story started out good, but falling in love in less than a week? You've got to be kidding me.

I found myself in the Prologue. ^_^ Jaavere, my friend, instead of being a quote at the beginning of a chapter from the Canticles and named Jaavere Amberstill, she was put in as a guard that Lochlan spoke to briefly.

However, I did not find anyone else's names other than Millard's (Millard Key), and hopefully they will be put in the next book...?

I also read The Annotated Firebird, a book made up of three books--Firebird, Fusion Fire, and Crown of Fire. All very good! I found myself liking the books very much. Very, very much! Kathy Tyres did well when she wrote them, and now I want to go find that sequel book that Jake saw on Kindle... and read it. I think its about Kiel and Kinnor... >_> The only problem I had was, that, throughout the book, the author had put notes on things, thus interrupting the story flow at parts, but the notes explaining a few things were interesting, and who am I to complain? Jake got it for like four bucks, and its over a thousand pages!

I re-read Starlighter for the sake of going through the series before reading Diviner, and now I'm in the middle of Warrior. I think Starlighter is definitely not Bryan Davis's best work, but Warrior wasn't TOO bad, and I'm hoping Diviner will be good. :)

I read Inheritance, and found it good--but not amazing. The ending, even though a lot of people didn't like it, was a pretty good ending. I mean, it fulfilled a few things said in the other books, and it was the only logical choice--though I do wish they'd put more meaning into the ending, amazing last words or something.

Also, Eragon was all hardened and everything by the end--I wish he had a bit more courage and sacrifice in there. And when Nasuada took the throne--she just said, "I'll take it." And she pushed for it. That seemed very uncharacteristic for her. Nasuada wouldn't argue for something like that. And she acted a bit rude about it, too. She refused to renounce her claim, and while I'd rather have her as queen than King Orrin as king, I didn't like how she handled it all.

So, all in all, my days have been busy. Over two weeks in Africa already!

Farewell, my Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Dragons, Spriggans, Werecats and the like--

November 2nd

Does anyone know what that means? No, probably not. Not all of it, I mean.

1. It means the second day of NaNoWriMo. I have exactly 3,400 words so far, which I had to get fast since I'd be gone all day today.

2. Our Whoathon (Doctor Who Marathon)

3. Trench-coat day (created by Jake)

 4. My birthday. :)

Yep--from my parents, I got a brand new epic trench-coat! Now Jake, Manny, and I all have trench-coats. Ry borrowed one from my grandma, and so we all wore them to the Whoathon, which was EPIC.

From Ry, I got a waterbottle and a piece of green felt with 'Doctor' in blue cut-out letters. The thing is, twice I was asked to draw something for me own present. ;) Ry had me draw a TARDIS, which she stuck on there too.

Manny used my bulletin board and taped (I think) a yellow felt boot (That I drew the outline for... XD) and blue lettering down the side which spells... VERN. (Haha, gotta love it.) Also, whereas the boot is at the top and the lettering on the sides, in the right top corner there is a horseshoe--not a real one, but the kind you'd use in the game Horseshoe. And, the best part, Manny took my drawing of the Arabian--the last one I did with my teacher, can be viewed here (it is the full-view horse with head outstretched), is situated in the left bottom corner, held in place by the frame of the bulletin board and two tacks... Manny knows I'm prickly about cutting or sticking things through the paper of my drawings, so she did it specially where the point is right beside the paper, but the round top of the tack is what's keeping the drawing on. :)

First, we watched Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, then The Christmas Invasion, then Partners in Crime, and then The Pandorica Opens and the Big Bang, and finally the Eleventh hour, which we have yet to finish because we had to stop in the middle of it. :P

Tennant was in Silence in the Library/Forest of the dead, The Christmas Invasion, and Partners in Crime. Smith was inThe Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang and the Eleventh hour. We did not have any with Eccleston, partially because we didn't want to REALLY see any of his--his episodes didn't have quite as good of plot.

And we got to see five different companions!! ROSE, my first favorite, was in The Christmas Invasion, and Donna Noble (she's my second, tied with Rory) was in Partners in Crime and Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. Rory (tied with Donna) and Amy (they're husband and wife, now) were in The Pandorica Opens/AThe Big Bang and The Eleventh Hour.

We had every singel (new) Doctor Who companion, save Martha, who is my least favorite. :P It goes Rose, Donna/Rory, Amy, and then Martha.

They were the ones we thought would be best to watch a second time, and most of them hilarious. Silence in the Library is where the Doctor first meets River, and the last time River meets the Doctor. Timestreams, rather complicated. ;)

The Christmas Invasion is the first episode of Season 2, the first one after Eccleston regenerated into Tennant. Hilarious and amazing.

Partners in Crime is where Donna comes back, after meeting the Doctor once before in The Runaway Bride. (Haha, methinks, other than River, she's the onlly companion who has slapped the Doctor) She's investigating on something because she thinks she might find the Doctor where there's trouble.

The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang is where... well, to quote it, "This is where it gets complicated." This is with Smith, and Rory comes back as plastic afer falling into a crack in time and being erased completely--never having been born. Whew. Poor Rory, he's died twice, and then he didn't exist, and then he's plastic and has to wait 2,000 years!

Finally, the Eleventh Hour with Smith as the Doctor--the first episode after Tennant regenerated into Smith. In this one, he first meets Amy and Rory and accidentally is twelve years late for something. ;)

All in all, the best one to re-watch was Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. 'Tis funny, brilliant, and still emotional at the same time (which is good, because I'd hate the Doctor if he had no emotion :P)

Ah, and enough talk about Doctor Who! What about Beatrice?

Beatrice has literally taken to chasing cars. *shakes head* She'll kill herself that way. She waits for them and then tears after them, sometimes nearly running in front. O_O Twice, she sat in the middle of the road, making them go AROUND her, and then chased them. One of them turned out to be the mailman. XD

And then, just the other day, she lay in the middle of the road, and a car came up fast, and didn't see her. IT RAN RIGHT OVER HER, and she survived, not even flinching, because she happened to be short enough to go under the car. Gah. If the car had swerved...? Oh, and of course, she chased it. :P

She also likes to chase cows... poor cows.

But a good thing--! She doesn't bark at new people now (well, occasionally she does...) and sniffs their hands. She's still not to sure about them touching her, though. She's turning into a little sweetie... except when she's eating. She'll growl and yap if you try to pull her away from food. But you can pet her easily while she's eating, as well as take away the bowl, but she doesn't like to be picked up.

And drawings? I finished the Rocky Mountain Horse, but I'm not sure what to do next.

Gotta go...

Goodbyes

I hate 'em. But yet I love them. If I didn't have goodbyes, I would feel horrible when it was time to leave something behind... a goodbye helps, for some people. Like me.

I need goodbyes. And that was what last night was all about. *sniffs*

No, I did not cry. ;) Though I sure felt like it. We had a sort of 'goodbye party' at our house... at our empty house. We're hoping to leave for Africa very soon... we're living at the farm at the moment.

So, we had a party made of singing, praying, and talking. No snacks, and the only furniture in the house (there were some boxes) was a couch, a chaise, and all of the... why can't I remember their name? ...some sort of chair. Not really lawn chairs... but...

Anyways, it was also our last day of co-op... *double sniff* I love co-op, in spite of my hatred of Composition... >_> It was mostly like any other day--except it was rather cold out. Haha, and my only jacket turned out to be too small... so I went in a short-sleeved shirt with 'The Dog Ate my Homework' printed on it. And played football. With no shoes on.

Yep, that's me. No shoes, no sweatshirt or jacket, not a care in the world. XD In 32 degree weather. O_O

After all of the classes, I pretty much went around and hugged the majority of people there... even though I would most likely see them that evening. What can I say? I love hugs. ^_^

One of the 'B' kids, as I will call them--family of twelve, ten of 'em kids. :) And since all of their names, save the parents, start with B, they'll be the B kids. Well, B number one, who will be turning twenty in November, will have her birthday while I'm gone, and I really extremely like her... a lot. Our whole family does. So, I drew out a horse that I would give her--took about half an hour or less--and then put it off. Well, guess what? I pick it up for maybe thirty minutes the night before... or less. I didn't have it ready for co-op the next morning...

And after co-op we had to rake the front yard. And our front yard is rather big. Jake and I raked the front and the side, and then bagged it all... I think we got seven and a half bags full of leaves--just from the front.

So, for thirty more minutes, I worked, and got the foundation shading down. Then, we went to supper with someone, which lasted... oh, and hour to an hour in forty-five minutes? I finished the drawing JUST before we left. And, we were nearly late for our own part. :) We actually drove two cars behind the 'B's' car. Anyways, I gave it to her (signed, of course ;) ), and she really liked it. She stood staring at it... XD I did not get a picture, though, because I gave it to her immediately, along with a frame.

The B family came, and I didn't realize how many people we knew! Our living room was full. :) The fifth B, I think he is, tends to joke around... as well as the 4. XD They're hilarious. The 4 B (I will not use his name, because I don't have permission :) ) likes to make goat and sheep sounds... anyways, its not very easy to explain them when typing... you'd have to meet him to really know them. XD In fact, five of the B kids are older than me, and five of them are younger...

We sang a whole lot of songs... oh my, so many. Maybe up to ten. Maybe around eight. A lot. No, more than that!! We spent two to three hours singing! 'Twas actually a lot of fun, though some people had to leave in the middle. :P

My best friend, Jaavere Emrayel, as you know her (or Lady Amber), could not come because she went on a last-minute trip with her grandmother. I haven't seen her in months, and most likely will not before we leave for Africa... But I'm really really really hoping we go to Iowa, to see some people there, because then I WOULD get to see her--because she lives on the way. Since we've moved to the farm, that's two and a half hours of distance between us. :P

Well, afterwards, we just sort of milled about, me giving hugs to every person I came into contact with... A lot of the people became teary-eyed. I felt like crying, but didn't... that's the way I am. Even though regularly, since my eyes are so sensitive, if I see someone's eyes watering, MY eyes start to water... and now they are just thinking about... XD But anyways, even if I really feel like it, when others are crying, I don't usually... I'm not really a crying person--unless I'm mad. ;) I cry when I'm mad.

Mrs. B gave each of us three girls (Ry, Manny, and I) a bracelet, and mine is large, green glass beads with white raised flowers, followed by one of those tiny plastic, diamond bead, a round wooden one, and another plastic... and so on. I love it. I don't usually wear jewelry, but how can you not wear a green and brown bracelet with both glass and wood? I love wooden beads. Manny's had sort of oval, purplish beads with silver beads in between... really pretty. And Ry had large glass beads like mine, round, and had a touch of green on them, with silver beads in between.

I hugged NEARLY everyone. :) Not everyone, but nearly...

We stayed at a friend's house that night, and now its today. And I'm really sad. But guess what? We get to see the B kids today. ^_^

So much for last goodbyes.

And for you, followers--this is NOT my last goodbye, just my last one in awhile... blogposts will probably be few in between.

GOODBYE!!!!

I could go cry now... ;)

Hectic

My life is getting increasingly more and more hectic... what with the move and all. I have, however, had lots of time to draw and all that, and I've visited my teacher once!

I have a horse posterbook, and I've been drawing out of that--I'm on my third picture from it. I did a picture of a muscular, tall bay horse that sort of has dapples. Extremely pretty. I gave that one away, but I do have a picture of it... somewhere... I have not finished the drawing of Jones because *berates self* I have not been working on it... but I did finish another horse profile, one of the ones from my posterbook. It's a Palomino, so rather light-colored, and I did a dark-fading-to-light background that my teacher showed me. :)

I also am drawing a picture (from the posterbook) of two horses, one a dark bay, the other a more tan palomino. I added in the blurry trees in the background, but alas, I don't even know how to do trees... >_> How I'll finish that picture, I don't know. O_O

When I went to visit my teacher, I bought from her some fixative, a new kneaded eraser, and three blending stumps. She looked over each of my pictures and gave me tips, showed me how to do things, and I asked her how I could travel or carry around my sketchbook without fraying the edges of the paper and book. Well, she went over to where she had her art paper she sold, and she pulled out two thick pieces of white art-board and taped 'em together. She wrote ****'s Artwork on the front (excluding my name) and gave it to me for free. :) Normally, the paper would have probably cost between fifty to seventy-five cents (or more) each. :D
I've also had two people ask for drawings! The first wanted a drawing of her dog, which had been an abused one. She offered to pay me as well. The other is one of my mom's best friends, and she would like to have her daughter's horse drawn for her--which, of course, would be easy since horses are my best subject!!

Ah, well, I don't have time for any more. Farewell, my fellow bloggers and friends!!
